The Very Curious Space Detective: A Study in Scary Evidence

An enchanted test reader gave the book an enthusiastic review, stating that the only fault this story has is that it is almost too ingenious. It is proof of the possibility of writing a science fiction detective story in which the reader would not be able to spot the criminal. Every reader will most likely admit that this is really the case. The book betrays the cunning of an old hand. The curious reader must wait for the last-but-one chapter in the book for the last link in the chain of evidence that enabled the space detective to unravel the whole complicated plot and lay the guilt where it really belonged. The reader is pleasantly kept guessing at the mystery's solution and will most certainly never lay down this most entertaining book. Once having completed the novel, the reader will freely admit that the story is, especially for a crime adventure set in a science fiction universe, very well contrived, and that the solution of the mystery is the result of logical deduction. Test readers found that story, moreover, has no lack of movement, and that the main characters are very well drawn. This book will rejoice the heart of all who truly relish science fiction detective stories. The feat of creating such a beautifully crafted story in a future setting was amazing, for the book is put together so deftly that test readers could remember no other book of that kind, which approaches it in merit. It is well written, well proportioned, and full of surprises. Lovers of outstanding science fiction detective stories will, without exception, rejoice in this book. Concerning the characters, the novel is introducing a brilliant - and decidedly eccentric - space detective who, at an old friend's request, steps out of retirement - and into the shadows of a classic mystery on an otherwise supposedly calm resort world. Like any 'whodunit', the story raises questions and the reader can rely on the answers being positively poisonous. Who's responsible, and why, can only be revealed by the master detective himself.
