Gus Jackie was a once well-known author of the acclaimed Piper series. Single-handedly, Gus and his books had turned this sleepy island where he lived into a tropical moneymaker. The island now thrived with resorts, high-rise hotels, and expensive restaurants. While at the same time, no one cared about his books, anymore. The collective eye had moved beyond Gus Jackie. Fame was no more. But that was okay to Gus. He was one burned out author who had nothing left to give. All he owned was this tired empty bar where his goal seemed to be to slowly drink his life away. He was okay with that, too. Then she walked into the bar, a character from one of his books. For Gus, life was about to become strange.
