City growth in terms of the expansion of the built environment is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, linked to population growth and economic development, as mentioned above. The expansion of the built environment is directly related to the population growth of cities. As people migrate to urban areas in search of better opportunities, the demand for housing and urban services increases, resulting in the physical expansion of the built environment.
