Jacob, a struggling private investigator, attempted to keep his childhood nightmares from destroying his life. He struggled with the thought of monsters surrounding him, especially the one that had scarred him for life, leaving scars on his face so that every time he looked in the mirror he remembered. He overcame most of it staying busy with his investigative business and blossoming romance with his assistant, Lecyn. He's made enemies and doesn't get overly concerned about office break-ins and petty threats, that is until he begins receiving voicemails from the voice of a monster that should have been gone years before. And then one day, the wife of the Police Lieutenant comes calling. She strongly suggests, more demanding than asking, him to take on her case of investigating her husband as she suspects infidelity. Vandalism, double homicides, and kidnappings all mix to intrude and bring the forces together on Jacob's fragile life. He faces an evil even worse than his childhood nightmares. Will the monsters ever release their hold on him? Will he lose everyone he has come to love before it is over? And what of himself? Will he welcome death or lose his grasp on reality?
