Book Overview

"It has been a day ordained by the fates, for how else could one explain the wholly cursed chain of events?"

The Year is 1883 and Emma M. Lion has returned to her London Neighbourhood of St. Crispian's. But Emma's plan for a charmed and studious life are sabotaged by her eccentric Cousin Archibald, her formidable Aunt Eugenia, and the slightly odd denizens of St. Crispian's.

Emma M. Lion offers up her Unselected Journals, however self-incriminating they may be, which comprise a series of volumes. Armed with wit and a sideways amusement, Emma documents the curious realities of her life at Lapis Lazuli House.

THE UNSELECTED JOURNALS OF EMMA M. LION, Volume 3 by Beth Brower This covers another two months in Emma’s day to day living in Lapis Lazuli house. I loved the Julius Cesar scavenger hunt involving the whole town —so fun! Having Emma and Cousin Archibald team up was a riot. I loved the back and forth with them. The many potential love interests around Emma would normally licit an eye roll, but somehow I’m here for it! Maybe it’s because Emma isn’t the typical annoying, single minded, love struck FMC. Despite the difficulties Emma faces, she is resilient. She holds on to her optimism and continues to charm. An easy, fast paced read with loads of humor, wit and a cast of characters who continue to endear and entertain. Onward to Volume 4! Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️

I cannot read it fast enough and when it is over, I wish I had read it slower.

This is like Pride and Prejudice without the slow moving storyline. These books are hysterical and touching. I have giggled out loud and sat and sobbed. Witty sarcasm and empowered self-assurance lives in the same gorgeous personality who is fighting all of British culture and society to find her own happiness in a world that has pushed her aside.
