Great Book!

The Unknown Star is a book of one man's courage to overcome the difficulties that life throws our way. Everyday in life we encounter different people who have a special story, and Elton Rokusek's story is one that needs to be heard. Having lived with a physical obstacle, Elton has had to find deep inner strength to help him cope with harsh criticisms from those who denied him a fair chance. With the love of family, friends, and God, Elton proves that he is more than a survivor. Being an educator, and having read the book with my fourth grade students, this book is one that a variety of ages will learn from. The impact it has had on my students and myself and has been nothing but positive.

I grew up in Tyndall and went to school with Elton's children. My mom worked in the county courthouse just down the hall from Elton so I guess I have always known him. I can honestly say I saw him no different then anyone else...his personality and kindness shone so bright it hid the mark on his face. He always told me that he would write a book and be published someday. I always told him that I knew he would. He is not looking for financial gain but for helping others who have to overcome the harsh realities of life. The book is amazing and is genuine. When you finish it you get to know the man behind the face...you get to know him from the heart. This is a must read. In one book you get a love story that includes struggles, endurance, strength, hope, reality, courage, and a miracle that is not fiction. Paulette and Shannon Peters

New Insight

"The Unknown Star" was a very insightful look into the life of a man who has struggled to overcome prejudice and pain. I enjoyed learning more about this man's life and I enjoyed his stories and anecdotes. The book was not only poignant, but humorous as well. The author's devotion to his wife, family and community are exceptional even without the physical obstacles that he's overcome.

Awesome Book!!!!!!!

This book is a must read book. It helped me to understand what Elton has gone through in his life due to the disfigurement of his face. Elton is a very kind, caring, helpful and humble man. I am privileged to have known Elton most of my life. He would do anthing to help another. He is a very respected County Official for Bon Homme County, South Dakota. He did not write this book for himself to gain fame. His intention with this book is to reach out to others who have gone through similar situations. He wants people to know that if you keep a positive attitude, work hard and do your best at all things you can reach your goals. I look at life differently since reading Elton's book. I hope you will take the time to read this book it is well worth it!

This book was sincere and from the Heart, it brought back memories of some the the same treatment I had to go through as a child growing up. Elton is one of the most wonderful person I have had the privilege of knowing in my Life Time. He is sincere and one of the most respectful Public Servants in the Great State of South Dakota and Bon Homme County. There is no one that can ever be his equal as this book shows. Elton is not out for fame or glory, his story shows that one can accomplish anything that you set your mind to do and work hard to achive your goal. His disfigurement of his face did not stop him in doing his best at all time, this book should be something that everyone should read so they can put adversity behind them and work to reach what ever goal they have, as Elton did. I know that after reading this book, my attitude about life in general has taken a turn for the better.
