Vanishing history

This book represents a lifetime of research documenting the findings of Ruth Deters and her husband as they wandered around the Quincy, Illinois area in search of stations on the Underground Railroad. It includes many original letters, pictures, and journal entries to validate the information she found. The pictures are of homes, many of which have been torn down, that served as a safe haven to escaping slaves. The Deters live in one of those homes, which began her quest for more information. The book is a wonderful resource of historical artifacts, as well as a tribute to those who dedicated their lives to abolishing slavery.
