Can a man truly change? How about a man named Loeser who has been defending himself against bullies all his life? And if he can change, who and what circumstances must act upon him to set his metamorphosis in motion? Phil Loeser finally wins a big bet with a local bookmaker, Ronnie Thunder, who owns and operates Ronnie Thunder's Trading Post, Grocery, and Souvenir shop. But when Loeser goes to collect his winnings at Ronnie's store, he finds out that he may be responsible for some significant property damage and Ronnie's not paying up. A deadly fight ensues, the police show up, M&M's and Lottery tickets are strewn across the store's wood-planked floor. All the while a mysterious woman-whose reasons for being in the store are indeed nefarious as well-witnesses the altercation. Doing 90-days in county jail, Phil begins to examine his life up to this point and is not happy or proud that it's truly been a series of bar-lowering, esteem-crushing choices and acts of nature. Just when he feels he cannot tolerate one more minute of being in touch with his destructive nature, he meets a man who may or may not change his life. It's all going to be decided by Phil, one way or the other.
