My name is Chrissy and I am a survivor.

Being at odds with my mother right from my childhood made me doubt, distrust and resent her. From a very early age I realised how much my mum hated me and I grew to dislike her too.

Deaths in our family tore us apart and wrecked everything that was left of us. We dealt with our losses the easier, more destructive way.

Alcoholism and addictions became our family identity. Abuse, injury, suicide attempts, life and death situations became pages in our history book.

I am now at a crossroad and have a decision to make. A decision which could either be life-altering or one that could haunt me for the rest of my life. Am I ever going to be prepared for what comes next?

Should we stay together or go our separate ways? Tragic events have recently plagued us and with the roles of mother and daughter now reversed, I am torn between the hate I have always felt and my duty towards a dependent parent. Compelled to make a tough decision, I ask myself 'Will I regret my decision?'
