Great tool for teaching teenagers about an important topic - volunteering

I bought this book because I am a teacher and our school was looking for ideas our honor society students could use to make their volunteer hours more meaningful - and I have to say that it proved to be a great resource. Not only did the author, Christine Maxwell, lay out a great plan for teaching our students the importance of volunteering, but she also created a tool our students could use to actually make a difference in our community. I shared this book with a colleague, and he got a copy for an entirely different reason that had not occurred to me - his son was in the process of applying for colleges, but he realized that his son lacked "community involvement" type activities that could really make a difference when applying for a highly competitive program. This book turned out to be a highly valuable resource for his son as well - and I highly recommend it.

For volunteers of all ages!

As a full time volunteer, I found this book helpful and informative. I have given it as gifts to several young family members graduating high school, and I know they will enjoy it as well.

This book is straight-forward, easily understood, and would definitely be a helpful guide to any young person desiring to make a difference in his or her community-and even the world. For any youth embarking upon one of these plans for volunteering will not only result in a sense of accomplishment and responsibility, but will also be the material for a resume for college or employment. This would make a wonderful gift for a young person in middle or high school.
