Excellent Book

This book has worn pages from it's use. It is very informative and an oustanding resource to review pros and cons of a breed through the use of a picture key. Not only would I recommend this book for the dog lover's library, but it would be very helpful for anyone trying to choose a breed that is right for them.

I like it

I founda lot of information in the book. I read it about everynight after homework. I am still choosing the right dog for me and my kid sister.

The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Dogs 2004

We enjoyed your book and found it had excellent graphics, however there were a few concerns. On pg 83, it states when suffering from heat exhaustion to "bath the dog with cold water and especially drench its head" if one were to do this it would send the animal into an immediate state of cardiac arrest in shock, a condition that no owner is equiped to deal with. I think that any veterinarian would agree, the best course of action would be to slowly cool the animal with tepid water and seek immediate emergency help. As well there is a section stating how much dogs like to eat chocolate but there is no mention to the fact of it being extremely toxic. On the plus side it is nice to see that you recommended that any injured dog should be muzzled as it may bite (something that the owner may not know).

Very Nice

Well done. Everyone has their own opinion on temperment and I do disagree on some of the Author's comments. Overall it s a nice book with great pictures.

The Ultimate Dog Encyclopedia

This is a great book! There are great pictures of each breed, and a good amount of information, including size, grooming, exercise, etc. There are all kinds of breeds, including rare ones, and plenty info on dog care. The authors could have included more info on each breed though, and some of the pictures for each breed are sideways, so you have no idea what the face of the dog looks like. On one breed, they give you false information. The Eskimo Dog (according to the book) is a different name for the American Eskimo Dog. The book says the Eskie is a large dog weighing 59-104 lbs. and standing 20-27 in at the withers, and it can be any known dog color. The Eskie is actually a small dog that comes in white or biscuit cream only and in three sizes (toy, mini, standard) 9-19 in at the withers and 6-40 lbs. That is the only mistake I have seen in the book, though. Overall, this book is very informative and definetly worth the cost!
