never be stuck for a turn

The Ulster Reciter pulls together some of the funniest and wittiest poetry to have left Ireland. The Ulster humour is derived from a mixture of Scottish dourness and Irish wickedness. It offers poems that I remember from my childhood. The Hottest Wee Widow in Larne would bring gentle folks to tears of laughter, The Diagonal Steam Trap confirms all our suspicions about those who fix our cars/central heating whilst getting a dig at the pompous and proud. These are the poems which Jimmy is encouraged to set down his Bushmills and recite to a hushed and entertained audience. It appeals to the Ulster diaspora who are no further than 2 generations from the homeland.
