Duchess Elizabeth begins to have great doubts about her life, about the freedom she has and about whether she is really happy. Elizabeth is a woman who was not born within the aristocracy but came to her from her marriage with a duke who has taken care of her and has loved her unconditionally. However Elizabeth is a young thirty years old woman wanting to explore the world. She continuously has conversations with her mother, who is missing and allegedly dead. Elizabeth compares herself to her mother constantly and that she has the same thoughts and impulses that she believes her mother had at the time of fleeing. Elizabeth meets a young count who is a free spirit, they both fall in love and she sees herself at the crossroads of this new love and a new world or staying at home to take care of her house, her son and her husband.
