The Two Dollar Bill: My parents let me out alive

"You lit his hands-on fire, you crazy bitch," is probably something my mom never thought she would hear. However, she never thought she would marry someone who would punch a two-year-old in the face, especially when the two-year-old is their son, Joey. Joey had to survive with two brutal parents who saw a need to make his, and his siblings, lives a world of fear! Joey's siblings are Marilyn, Ellie, and Jimmy. All four are dehumanized by Lee Grim and his wife. As a military brat, Joey was more brat than military. His parents moved him all over the country and then at the age of 9, two weeks before Christmas, "dad" took off forever. This only made Joey swear he would love Christmas even more, for the rest of his life, and he never disappointed himself. The "new dad" was better, but not by much. He would use food against the kids by not allowing them to eat. This type of beat down was especially hard for a now 10-year-old kid. After Charles Bockus adopted the four kids, it got worse. After one very eventful beating on Joey the family had to make a hastily put together move to Florida. The move brought Joey new friends and new adventures--adventures into alcohol and drugs and cigarettes. By Joey's 18th year he was ready for something new, and made the choice to die at his own hands. The plan, the intervention, the outcome, all help Joey, when in the end, he gets what he wants!
