To be a Japanese teacher of English you need to have 80% arrogance, 15% ignorance and 5% skill. The classes are so boring that it is difficult for the foreign teacher to stay awake. The students are bored to death and after 6 years of learning English in school, not one student can have an English conversation. The students have very poor listening, speaking, writing and reading skills. Although some students pass English proficiency exams, they are still incapable of having an English conversation with a native speaker of English. The Japanese teachers do not allow the students to practice their English skills with a native speaker or in class. The Japanese teachers cannot acknowledge or admit they made a mistake in class. Some Japanese teachers are incapable of expressing their thoughts in Japanese to students so they resort to physical abuse.
