The Trunk in the Attic gets two thrumbs up from me!!!

My family is planning a trip to Holland later this summer so I've been trying to teach my two children (who are 8 and 11) about the country and its culture before we go. We have been reading a bunch of non-fiction books about the Dutch, but then I came across The Trunk in the Attic and decided to give it a try. It covers almost everything we read about in the non-fiction books, but in a much more exciting and magical way. My kids can't wait to visit Madurodam, The Hague and the floating flower market. They even want to try to bike around Amsterdam like Katie, Jake and Cooper did in the book!

Undercover kids - Trunk in the Attic - loved it

What an awesome book! I love the story, the illustrations and the premise behind it - a series of adventures of discovery and mystery set all over the world. My favorite way to learn things is through stories. The adventures of Jake and Katie and Cooper the dog are fun and make such a good balance of learning cool stuff - like "Snert" (pg 70) and being wrapped up in an engaging story. To me one of the signs of a great book is that it is appealing regardless of the age it was intended for and this one does that. My copy is going in the mail today to my Grandson! Can't wait for the next one to come out. oh - and the illustrations are fantastic!

Kids love to travel
