My Thoughts and Feelings...

In the book "The Trouble with Liberty" by Kristin Butcher, A girl named Val, starts describing her hometown, Sutter's Crossing in Canada. Throughout saying her hobbies, she winds up meeting a girl name Liberty Hanes. They become great friends and hang out the whole summer. Liberty Hayes is the talk of the town. She has plenty of money and everyone wants to be her friend in the new school she attends. When Liberty accuses a male teacher of sexually assaulting her, the rumors start. Val, her new best friend, is torn between believing Liberty and trusting her old friend Ryan when it comes to the truth. Everyone wonders what is the trouble with Liberty? I really didn't like the book when I started reading it. The book didn't catch my attention. As I read on, Val starts describing how she met with a new character and the feeling switched to the book turning out interesting. In the end, I like the book because of its captivating details. It specifically described every incident that happened, to Liberty's encounter with the children at school, even with Val's dinner conversations at home with her family. I think that there was a turning point in the story when Val at the end, confronts Liberty with her lies and her manipulating ways. Liberty then deals with internal problems. She starts realizing that every lie would come out to light so she hurries out of town. The trouble with Liberty is herself. She doesn't have a way in life. She always wants her way- at any cost. If you read this book, you would see how your feelings for Liberty could change from good to shame. -Ilyana
