Kettl excels at "state of the field" analysis

As the negative review notes, there is some repetition in Kettl's analysis of the public administration field (he's written a number of excellent "state of the field" books and articles). However, Kettl remains the go-to guy for those wanting to understand where public administration has been, its current debates, and where it's heading. This is a very good book, and it's complemented by his more recent work on networked governance.
