Description from the book dust jacket: The Kid, a hot-tempered young drifter, was avoided by most people in the border country. He was not an easy man to track down, but one of Joe Simon's henchmen finally managed it. The Kid had the aristocratic good looks, the quick wits and the daring to undertake Simon's mission at San Triste. Once there he would have to persuade the inhabitants of the little Mexican town that he was the long lost heir to the great Vereal family, who had supposedly been wiped out years before by revolutionaries. If the Kid was accepted as Don Jose Vereal, Simon would be able to carry out his plan to seize the vast treasure he had hidden on the Vereal estate. Before that happened, however, the Kid would have to face the dangers of the trail and when he arrived in San Triste the even worse danger of being revealed as an imposter. The Kid's life could well depend on his three trusted allies: his black stallion; his long razor-sharp knife, so effective in his hands; and speaking loudest of all, his heavy Colt revolver.
