If Israel obeyed those laws and things were well with them, but soon after those laws were handed over to the scribes (the Pharisees, the Sadducees and the teachers of the laws), they perverted the laws, simply for their selfish reasons - so as to enrich themselves at the expense of the ignorant multitude of people.So, they began to teach their own man-made laws and disregarded the Lord's commandment (Mark 7:6-7), (Isaiah 29:13). From the ten laws of Moses, given to him by God, they created over five hundred laws, which placed a heavy burden on the people of Israel, for they weren't really obeying these laws they created.God is warning us today, to disregard the teachings of the scribes, i.e. the modern false men of God, such as priests, pastors, etc., and obey His Commandments. Our lord Jesus Christ was baptized by John, not because He (Jesus) had sinned (2nd Corinthians 5:31), but because "For in this way, we shall do all that God requires." (John 3:14)We cannot obey God's law by flesh (Romans 8:7-8), (Matthew 26:41), except through the Holy Spirit, the spirit he gave to us. (John 19:30). In that way, we belong to him. (Romans 8:9)
