This perfectly Illustrated children's book is based on Dominica's Cultural dance (specifically the traditional dance), which aim is to bring awareness to the younger generation; not only teaching them to embrace their culture but to accept who they are as an individual.In reference to the word "Ti Matado" in the title, Ti means small in creole, but the 'Bella' character - the main player in the book is by no means small. This little girl has big pride and a sophisticated passion for the preservation of her Africaness, and this is the message which is trapped beneath the text as she sets out to encourage every child that no matter how much culture evolves keep your tradition alive and never give up on things that can uplift you even if it means to dance to the beat of your own tambou (drum).
