A fun read.

I only read for pleasure so I drop anything that I dont 100% love by the first chapter. Cuz ain't no body got time for a bad book. I ended up ordering all the books for the Thursday Murder club. I found the twists unexpected but also believable (to the extent that one can believe a bunch of seniors solve crimes). Netflix now has a movie which if you enjoy you'll like the other books.

A Fun Read—Very Funny!

This is well written, and interesting story and very funny. It’s very British in its delivery, dry wit and plot twists throughout. I’ve also purchased the three sequels because I enjoyed it so much!

Feel your IQ drop by 50

Couldn’t get beyond page 20. Childish gibberish, reminding me of some stupid Acorn Channel idiocy. This book came highly recommended, a reminder not to take the advice of strangers ever again.

It was well-written but it was not for me at all

It was well-written but it was not for me at all. There was something about the tone and morality of the book that really rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't like that the Thursday murder club was so disrespectful/manipulative to Donna and Chris, and the fact that the narrative didn't condemn them for that or hold them accountable really killed my investment in them. I got to the end of the book just feeling tired and totally uninvested. The interview at the end of the audiobook helped me to understand where it went wrong, though. The author believes that people are inherently good and that our messed up society is often the cause of people being nasty or doing bad things, so at the end of the day we should look out for one another and be kind and stuff. While there are parts of that that I agree with, there are parts that I fundamentally disagree with enough that the conclusion and tone of the book fell really flat for me. So I did not enjoy this book, but I'm sure there are loads of people who wouldn't be bothered by this and would really get a lot out of it!

Like Only Murders but British and Better

If you like lighthearted murder mysteries, funny banter and loveable but complex characters, you will love this book. You will love the whole series! The characters live in a retirement village and they all have a different and interesting past. It’s funny and heartwarming at the same time.
