The story is about a bookshop owner and parttime investigator name Gallagher Brady who lost his parents in a plane crash in the White Mountains in 1944. Twenty-three years later new evidence comes to light causing him to retrace his steps in his investigation which triggers a series of events that will lead to the dismantling of a spy ring called the Mackintosh Group. This group is the forerunner of the Nazi spies that infiltrated American during World War Two.
