Thinking relevancy beyond its K-12 view

I purchased this book based on the title alone. While this book is written with a K-12 focus, the information is applicable to post secondary classroom work as well as classroom work in the corporate and government realm. I work for a county government in the area of education and training. We have been working to incorporate critical thinking into our programs - with limited success. Using the four classroom points for enculturating a language of thinking, we will be able to more clearly design and implement critical thinking activities and opportunities into our course content. This book will, in the end, revolutionize our course development and delivery. If you have a need to incorporate thinking into your classes or work environment and have the capacity to extrapolate information from the K-12 arena to fit your specific realm I highly recommend this text.

Great Book! Intelligent Approaches to Thinking and Learning

"The Thinking Classroom:" Learning and Teaching in a Culture of Thinking by Shari Tishman, David N. Perkins and Eileen Jay is a great book. The book is one of the top picks as required reading for participants of the "Project Zero Institute" at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. These great Harvard Professors present a 207 page book that is worth reading over and over. I purchased it for my professional library and refer to it often. My particular interests are "Thinking Dispositions" which are addressed very well, but must be reflected upon from time to time to be sure that genuine understanding is obtained. This is not a one time read type of a book and then put away. This is a book for those who are profoundly interested in knowing, reflecting and understanding connections to "thinking" and "understanding"... and especially "thinking dispositions".You may be a brilliant individual who doesn't seem to accomplish what is expected of you either from teachers, employers and/or particularly yourself. Maybe the content in this book on thinking dispositions might explain something to you. This book is for the scholar and the learner...and not a difficult read.
