A disappointment!

Where was Elizabeth’s editor? The beginning started okay but then went downhill. Where was the body of the story. This could have gone such a different direction. I have read all of Strout’s books. I really liked Artie. Such a disappointment!

A beautiful and insightful book for our time

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. In simple and intimate prose, Elizabeth Strout probes the depths of what it means to be human, especially in our day when loneliness is so pervasive and severe. I came away from reading this book with a renewed compassion and tenderness for others and a determination to avoid judgment.
