Imaginative World with Interesting Ideas

Just when I'd start to like a character, time would jump thousands and thousands of years ahead. Because of that, it felt like interconnected short stories rather than one cohesive narrative. I generally avoid short stories and this wasn't something I'd pick up if I knew that. I did appreciate the world building and how it overall aligns with the ethics of avoiding harm and exploitation. I recommend it to anyone who needs some radical sci-fi in their life, but go in knowing you won't follow the first main character for more than 1/3 of the novel.
