A Great Resource.

A Great Resource. I have just received this book and it is great! It is so funny to read about the different children that you teach and say, 'yes, that is so and so.' It will sit on one of my shelves at school and no doubt it will be shared with my colleagues. Thanks

The Ten Students You'll meet in Your Classroom

I recommend this book to all teachers, whether you've taught one year or thirty. Although this book is aimed at middle and high school, I found many ideas that I can apply in elementary school. Vickie combines a positive, encouraging outlook on teaching with descriptions of difficult student situations and practical suggestions (even including forms that she uses). Then she skillfully wraps it all in wonderful stories that make her book an very enjoyable read. Her book is guaranteed to make your enthusiasm for teaching soar! I highly recommend her other books as well: The Eleven Commandments of Good Teaching and The Ten Commandments of Professionalism for Teachers. If you ever have a chance to attend one of her in-service seminars, please go! It will be the most enjoyable and useful seminar you ever attend!

I recommend this book to all teachers.

After reading Vickie Gill's book, I feel that I have better insight, increased sensitivity and some very useful tools to use with my next batch of students. In this book, some of the most baffling kids that I've encountered were described and demystified. The management tips are doable and each chapter contains examples of forms, tools, assignments, rubrics, etc. On top of it all, it's a very pleasant read. I've read four classroom management books this summer. The others were like taking a pill.
