The Tarishe Curse

Vengeance is a monster of appetite, forever bloodthirsty and never filled.

Tarishe is a modest village surrounded by fortress walls meant to keep out one thing: werewolves. In truth, the wolves are scarcely bothersome and seldom seen excepting one night a year when a blood-red moon appears. This full Tarishe moon never fails to herald the arrival of an entire pack of hairy beasts, drawn to the village like greedy dragons to golden treasure.

It is difficult enough to protect a young family in this world of dangerous creatures, but such a feat proves near impossible when an old witch bent on vengeance casts a curse that manipulates both heart and mind. The battle for survival is not only with a sword but an internal struggle to love those the curse has targeted for hatred, and to hate the one who through evil enchantment manipulates her enemy's affections. How long will it take to learn that the old monster, vengeance, is insatiable?

This Tarishe tale is a thrilling tale of survival told from the Queen of Werefolk's point of view.

The Tarishe Curse ARC Review

~~Reviewed by Toby Palevsky Smith of Toby's Nerd-Cave Library~~ Thank you to the Librarything Early Reviewers Club, and the Author, Richelle E. Goodrich, for providing me with a free Autographed ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. The village of Tarishe is surrounded on all sides by fortress walls meant to keep out one thing: the Werewolves; even though the werewolves come on only one night a year, during the Blood Red full moon. Catherine the Huntress is actually Duvalla the WolfQueen - cursed by the Tarishe Witch to live as a human, ignorant of her past, and only regaining her true form and memories on the night of the blood moon, all the while the Witch is pretending to be her loving Grandmother. The Witch is cruel, manipulative, and devious, single minded in her quest for vengeance, making Cathrine think that the Wolf Queen killed her baby boy, and her baby girl years earlier, when really both her children are werewolves themselves, stolen on the nights of their supposed ‘deaths’ by their father, Duvalla's werewolf Mate and true love, Kresh, to live with the rest of the pack safely away from the Witch. When the Witch forces Catherine to marry her son Thaddeus, she secretly invites a cadre of vampires to the ceremony- and that's when Catherine/Duvalla escapes with the rogue vampires who have made a deal with the werewolves. Duvalla’s memories are constantly being toyed with, her autonomy violated over and over again. A new figure, Vallatrece the witch, shows up and pretends to be her Fairy Godmother before revealing her true self; a soulless evil that is interested only in absolute power and entertainment at the cost of others. This book was amazing, and made me feel things on a deep emotional level. The amount of world-building and mythology was wonderful and the pacing was great from beginning to end. The mythical beasts, haunted creatures, Enchanted objects, curses, witches, werewolves, and vampires, all came together flawlessly to create an old-world-like fairy tale that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The ending left the story open to possible future sequels too, and I really hope the author chooses to expand this unique world. Highly recommended for any Fantasy reader.
