In 1977, Sloan Clifton, a young college drop-out, lands a job as a repossessor of farming equipment for International Harvester in North Carolina. She moves from Rocky Mount across the state to Boone, where she discovers that both collecting monies and searching for missing tractors are equally dangerous in the hills and hollows of moonshine country. While living and working in Boone, Sloan meets Corey Knobs, a young police officer who assists her in her efforts to repossess equipment from delinquent account holders. In the process, wrong turns ensue, crimes are committed, and love blossoms in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
