You Must Be Crazy Not To Like This Book!

To the person who only read 80 pages of this novel...you missed 336 of a really great story!!! And I'm quite sure everything in it is historically accurate. I found this book to be intelligently written and hard to put down. I think I read it in three days and wished I could've read it faster. Anyone I know who's read it can't believe this is Terry McCarthy's first novel. I can't wait for the second! This is the book I am going to select for my next book club meeting. I know my group will love the combination of history and the "gladiator" type characters. If you love history with a story, please get this book. I can't believe it's only $6.99. I think the book was sold too cheap!

Over the Top

This book is really over the top--over the top of the Alps. It is a riveting read that will keep you entranced from beginning to end. The historical detail is carefully researched and the characters are intriguing. What a wonderful way to escape for a few hours.

Something for Everyone!

This book is an exciting change of pace from my usual James Patterson, Stuart Woods reads! Great character development, captivating battle scenes, and romance to boot! A great book club experience!

I had a great time reading this book

I usually don't go for books like this but once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. In fact, I made my wife drive the final 6 hours of our vacation so that I could finish it in the car. You'll really enjoy it. Good characters, good story, well developed and plotted.

A very good read!

I highly recommend this book! This is a very well written book that combines the historical drama of the Hannibal invasion of Rome with the personal transformation of a war- hardened mercenary. The author does a very good job of developing the characters. I found myself thinking about them for days after finishing the book. I think that at least two of the characters are worthy of a sequel. There are some very dramatic battle descriptions that are ready for the big screen. I think the author did a thorough job of informing the readers of the complexities of ancient warfare. His knowlege of battlefield strategies and his ability to make it come to life for the reader is exceptional! If you like historical fiction of this era you will enjoy this book!
