"Swiss Family Robinson" is well-written, well-paced, full of adventure, and is a wonderful book on man's interactions with nature and the environment. A classic survival story involving a Swiss pastor and his family, "Swiss Family Robinson" is a tale of a family shipwrecked with nothing but the ship's supplies and each other on a desert isle. Through hard work and knowledge of the natural world, they are able to not just survive, but thrive on the island. Though written 200 years ago, "Swiss Family Robinson" is a fast-paced action book-faster than other works of the time such "Last of the Mohicans" or "Robinson Crusoe". Each chapter provides the opportunity for the family to discover some novel animal, or some amazingly versatile plant, or make some new invention. There are also references to God's providence, and prayer, and moral virtues. A wonderful book for young people, and anyone who loves a good read.
