Book Overview

Peggy's disappointment at receiving a plastic ring from a gumball machine turns to glee when she finds that rubbing the ring releases a baby genie who can grant her one wish. Peggy wishes for ?the sweet touch, ? and is overjoyed by all the candy that keeps appearing around her, until she gets a tummy ache and wants the genie to turn off the wish. But the genie is only a baby and hasn't yet learned how to turn off wishes! Lorna Balian's adorable story is brilliantly re-colorized in this new edition.

So happy to find a copy!

This was my favorite book growing up, and I look forward to reading it to my future kids someday. The illustrations are beautiful, and the story is really cute.

A sweet and yummy story

Who doesn't love sweets? This book is timeless and just as enjoyable today as it was when I first read it over 20 years ago. It's one book I don't mind reading 3 or 4 times in a row. The illustrations are adorable.

Timeless.

What child wouldn't enjoy a story about having the ability to turn everything in sight into a candy-licious treat? In my opinion, this is a book that will never be "dated".

Warm fuzzy!!! A Must Read!

When I was little my mother would take me to the library and read this book to me... it is the sweetest book in the entire world!! I don't know what really drew me to it, but it has always stayed in my mind as my most favorite book. The story line is one that is a direct metaphore to that of Midas... a child is given the magic touch (she is able to turn anything into candy) by an apprentice wish giver. Things run amok and one finds out that too much of a good thing can be bad. It is sooo cute! The story is great, and the illustrations are wonderful! Those young and young at heart will love this book.
