Still The Best

First published in 1938 as an early volume in the Rivers of America Series, Suwannee River is a fascinating history of both the amazing ecology and the languid inhabitants of the Suwannee River and the Okefenokee Swamp. Matschat provides the Indian and white history of the area, complete with myths, legends, and unforgettable characters. Her view of the biology, botany and ecology of the river and swamp is both informative and interesting, and her travels through the swamp and down the river leave one wanting to replicate her journey. A wonderful read, and one of best in the Rivers of America Series.
