The Sun, the Moon, and the Gardener's Son

A story for young readers about an imaginary world. One morning the Gardener's Son awoke to discover that the Sun had not risen. The previous night, the Moon had eclipsed the Sun without warning, and, hurt by the Moon's actions, the Sun decided to make the Moon work night and day. But when the Sun did not rise, everything remained dark, and the grass and trees and flowers began to cry. The Gardener's Son did his best to make the plants happy, but he knew he had to speak to the Moon and the Sun. On his way to find them, the Gardener's Sun meets Color, a young girl whose job it is to colour the world. She turns the Watering Can, the Poppy, the plants, and even the Gardener's Son purple. And then green. And then orange. And as the colours change, so do the moods of the Moon and the Sun. The Moon apologizes to the Sun, the Sun emerges from the clouds, and everything returns to its proper colour.

A tender-hearted adventure

This is a lovely story about a gardener's son who helps bring peace between the sun and the moon, who have been quarreling so much there is no light in the world. It reminds that we should appreciate colors and cooperation. Fa-boo-lous!

My children enjoyed this book for the story and the wonderful drawings. It is also available in French for children studying languages.
