Life is simple on the tiny jewel-like island of Saint John in the Caribbean Sea. Sailing, surfing, swimming, and stargazing. But Cliff Cloister dreams of more. At 18, he moves into a new house in Cruz Bay and starts earning money for college. It turns out that the house has a name, The Hip Nautic, and his high school friend Renée Rembrandt is his housemate. Renée sails catamaran tours and Cliff earns his keep at a beach shack doing surf, kayak, and sailing tours. Cliff begins honoring the islands with rock petroglyphs he chisels on the sandy cays that speckle the coast. When Renée starts discovering the symbolic petroglyphs, she grows obsessed with finding their creator. Should Cliff tell her that it's him? What will become of their bubbling attraction to each other? Cliff strives to balance his love and ambition, because maybe, just maybe, there's room on this tiny island for both.
