not bad, not great

Paige Redmond enjoys her summers in Clearwater Ridge, hanging out at waterfalls and attending parties with her best friend, Audrey Covington, and Audrey's attractive brother, Dylan. However, Audrey mysteriously disappeared last summer, leaving behind many secrets and questions. A year later, Paige discovers a hidden clue in Audrey's room and, along with Dylan, starts her own investigation into what happened. As they uncover dark truths about Clearwater Ridge, Paige realizes that finding Audrey might put her in danger of disappearing too. Rating: 3.5/5 I just finished The Summer She Went Missing by Chelsea Ichaso, and I enjoyed it. It's a YA thriller with a well-told mystery. The book is 360 pages, but I think it could've benefited from some editing and it would’ve been a better novel with about 60 of those pages cut out. I thought the middle of the book had some unnecessary filler that slowed the entire thing down. I found Paige and Dylan to be interesting characters, though as an adult, I was frustrated with some of their choices and thought they were pretty naïve. That said, the last quarter of the book was packed with twists and action (and of course, I had a million theories), and it made up for the slower middle. I also enjoyed the conclusion of the book. Most of my questions were answered, we find out not only what happened and why but how things turn out for the characters. In order to not spoil anything, I’ll be vague, but I was left with a few questions about what the heck was going on in someone’s head in the end. Long story short for me this was a 3 1/2 out of 5.
