The Substitute Bride
Akriti Sehgal has loved her best friend Shefali for twenty years.
She has never said a word. She's not about to start now - not when Shefali is marrying into Akriti's own family in four days, and Akriti has a one-way ticket out of the country and a plan to be gone before the wedding.
Then the groom vanishes on the morning of the shaadi.
Two families. Two hundred guests. Eleven lakh rupees. One empty sherwani, one face-hiding sehra, and one desperate matriarch with a plan so insane it just might save everyone's honour: put Akriti in the groom's clothes, marry her off to the bride for a single night, and pray nobody looks too closely.
Nobody's looking too closely.
Which is a problem, because the bride is about to lift that veil - and neither of them has thought for one second about what happens after the wedding, when the guests go home, the door locks, and the only people left in the room are two women who were never, ever supposed to be more than friends.
They've got one night to survive.
They're going to need a lot longer.
A laugh-out-loud, ache-in-your-chest sapphic romantic comedy about the person who was standing next to you the whole time - and everything you called them so you'd never have to say the truth.
