The Structure of Fregean Propositions

This dissertation is about the structure of thought. By 'thought' I don't mean a particular event of thinking, but rather an aspect of the content expressed by such an event. In particular, by 'thought' I mean the sort of content relevant to determining whether an assertion (or event of thinking, utterance, sentence, etc.) is true or false. That is, I will use 'thought' as a technical notion that can be abstracted from an intuitive notion of 'content' or 'meaning'. This usage stems from Gottlob Frege.1 Hence, a thought is an abstraction from the complete content of e.g. a declarative sentence, and it fixes a truth-condition.
