A Really Good Read

This is a really handsome little book that brings John Watson, a nineteenth century Gloucester fisherman turned successful composer-musician, to life. It is a fascinating and true tale of a young man who by birth and upbringing should have spent his life in the Gloucester fishing fleet, but instead decided to cast his net into the unlikely world of the arts and classical music in New York and Boston. Chet Brigham paints an interesting and well researched picture of Watson's life and times, and allows you to see the world through his subject's eyes. If you enjoy a good historical narrative that has everything from lethal nor'easters to Dime Entertainments on the lower East Side of New York, you'll enjoy The Stream I Go A-Fishing In.
