After reading this specific art book, I must admit I have obtained more knowledge to my private art world. Although the author begins art history from the Renaissance era and not from the Paleolithic age, the book is very handful to anyone who just started to read and learn on the main art streams in history. I believe that one of the best things in this book was the focus on important artists in general, including Jan Vermeer, Leonardo Da-Vinci, Claude Monet, etc between one to two pages, which is a lot for this quite summerised history art book. Also, in every new chapter which begins, is included a time tablet of all the significant issues and events which occured those very century/centuries. Besides of the colorful photos on every page and the details and infomation next to it, the language is highly readable and uses now and then rich definitions from the art world. I have to comment that it was a very wise choice to select Giotto as the one who built the basis for all the art which would follow him afterwards and he was in fact the man responsible for the beginning of the Renaissance era. The chapters and their contents are summerised in order for us not to forget the meaningful details every era has to offer, such as Carravagio's ciaro-scoro, Leonardo's sfumato and so on. It is important because Not only do events in history change the art but also the way certain artists lived and the techeniques they used in their art. Unfortunately, certain eras are too minimised and I belive that more valuable infomation could have been included to those. The right chronological order of the art history is very well placed, according to the countries in europe it first had an impact on and from there spread over and changed his way of style, for example french Realism quickly led to the Impressionist style and also the High Renaissance in Rome and Florence sufficiently influenced the french art, which adopted it according to methods used then in painting. In conclusion, this book is recommanded to the beginners, those who are curious or fascinated by art. For the more experienced readers in art it will certainly be a pleasure to go over it once in a while. Also,I recommand the following books: Sister Wendy Beckett/"The story of painting", Anne Mueller Von Der Haegen/"Giotto(masters of italien art)", Susan Wright/"The Renaissance(masterpieces of art and architecture)". So I recommened to start your own private collection or add this book to one if you're not able to finance trips to museums all around the world or just to satisfy the eager to learn on all those superb masterpieces, and remember in art as in art there's no such thing that there's no such thing.
