With the waning of the 19th century and the waxing of the 20th occultism experienced an unprecedented resurgence within Western consciousness which hasn't abated since. When one thinks of the pioneers who carried this ancient and arcane knowledge into the modern era the first person that generally comes to mind is the infamous Brit, Aleister Crowley.
