Wonderful overview book

I can't imagine why this book isn't still in print. To me, this is a wonderful place to start in learning history, a very generalized overview of the story, sort of a fuzzy big picture snap shot before going into detail using other books. Its beautifully illustrated throughout, depicting a variety of cultures & ethnicities while it illustrates history. I wish there were an equivilant overview of American history.
