The Stories We Tell

The Stories We Tell is a collection of poems depicting experiences shared by others as well as myself. Some stories are written poems directly from my first-hand experience while others were shared for me to then interpret and create into a poetic piece. Do not be deceived by the creativity, and clever wording, these are combinations of someone's real life stories. Whether it is grief and loss, intimacy and relationship, encouragement and engagement or some other human interaction, these poems capture the stories. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I would hope this book gives room for persons to explore language and connection as the metaphors and words structures showcase a narrative you can relate to. As a Mom, I would hope this book helps to humanize parents as people who still have intimate connections and feelings about a myriad of topics. As a Writer and Poet, I would hope this book emphasizes creativity, word-play, personality and ultimately touches you in some way that you would want to share with another.
