My sixth grade students love this book. They find the stories genuine and relate readily to the rich tapestry of backgrounds offered. As a mentor text, this book offers several supports. To name a few: the entries are short enough to fit within a mini-lesson, names and ages are posted with each story to serve as a model, and a variety of topics are covered that can be tailored for different lessons. I can relate to these stories and would like to write storieslike these. These stories have alittle bit of everything. The storyLindy is about a little girl who keeps ringing a doorbell at a friends house. It's interresting how a dad in jail fits into this story.
