The Stick Family and the Flood

By Judy Roe Goodman

Book Overview

This captivating book is inspired by the true story of the Roe family and their resilience during the devastating Columbus, Ohio flood of January 1959. The flood not only swept away their family business, Roe's Grocery, but also forced them to rebuild their lives from the ground up. The image below captures a poignant moment of Richard Roe, lovingly known as 'Dad, ' as he clears out the damaged merchandise from his store. This photo, originally published in The Columbus Evening Dispatch on January 22, 1959, serves as a powerful reminder of strength and determination in the face of adversity.
