The Steward
Reno Moretti never wanted to rule anyone.
He learned long ago that real power isn't measured by wealth, influence, or the ability to destroy an enemy. It's measured by what a man chooses to protect-and what he's willing to sacrifice to protect it.
For years, Reno has lived behind carefully constructed walls, carrying the weight of a secret few people know exists. To the outside world, he is successful, enigmatic, and perhaps a little dangerous. But behind that life lies another identity.
The Steward.
When Reno's daughter, Alexandra, arrives at LaGrange College, the past begins colliding with the present. Old relationships resurface. Long-buried loyalties are tested. And when Alexandra and Alexander Moretti are pulled into a struggle involving powerful men, hidden agendas, and an enemy who believes order matters more than human life, Reno can no longer remain in the shadows.
Among those waiting there is Viktor Morozov-a ruthless Russian oligarch accustomed to treating people as pieces on a chessboard. But Viktor is not the only player at the table.
And Reno is about to discover that even the Steward doesn't know who is moving all the pieces.
Part thriller, part mystery, and part story of fathers, children, friendship, regret, and redemption, The Steward asks what happens when extraordinary power is placed in the hands of someone determined not to abuse it.
Because the Steward was never meant to be a king.
He was meant to stand between the innocent and those who would harm them.
Custodia non Dominium.
Guardianship, not dominion.
