The civil war in Porfia is over. Leonades survived, barely. But he has to appoint new dukes and try and put his kingdom back together. The trade embargo is strangling the economy. Spices, mainly pepper, are still in demand, and Leonades and the dukes turn a blind eye to smuggling as long as they get their taxes. In the north, the Steppe Nomads are restless again. Everyone is worried that they are in for the Nomads going on a campaign of major raids. Mike is worried enough to start developing arms that would bring the Nordian up to Civil War standard - rifled muskets, mini-balls, cannons. Leonades is still looking for revenge against the northern kingdoms, who he blames for all his troubles. When he learns about the Nomads, he starts smuggling large quantities of muskets, shot, and powder to them. He also provides military advisors. This creates a volatile mix that puts the major cities in the north of Nordia and Turkmenia at risk. It's sure to explode, and the cost in lives may be more than has been seen in centuries on Cornu.
