A fantastic introductory guide to the cosmos.

I have been interested in astronomy since my early childhood days. First off, do not be fooled by the term "handbook." This giant 266 page tome is comprehensive and detailed even though it claims to be for beginners. In fact, this would be an excellent text book for an introductory college level astronomy course. My son and I took an astronomy course at the Chicago Planetarium many years ago, but it did not cover the amount of material in this great book. This text includes chapters on the changing skies, the solar system and the constellations. It also has a monthly sky guide for serious amateur and professional astronomers. The hundreds of large color photographs and illustrations makes this book a joy to look at as well as read. In conclusion, if you are into the wonderful world of astronomy you will want a copy of this fantastic book. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J.
