A good general reference for one who wants to communicate.

One quality of English is its flexibility. Right behind flexibility is adaptability. You can say anything that you are thinking about in a myriad of ways. The local college said Do not waste your time with grammar classes. This is fine and works well until you listen to the evening news. "The police are looking for a suspect that ran." They are not particular as to which suspect, just any that ran. One of my favorites is in the movie "The Thin Man" (1934). Nora says, "It says that you were shot twice in the Tabloids." Nick says, "They never came near my tabloids." Unix is built on the premise that less is more. Unless you have to do something precise, use fewer command options. However, occasionally, you will need to be precise, and if you are addressing a precise audience, it is best to know the preferred syntax. This book can help guide you through the process of "Proper" English. Keep it next to the dictionary and read it periodically on sleepless nights.

Great Reference Book for Papers!

I really enjoy this book. It is a great reference book on how to format papers for several different formats and how to properly give citations. It also gives tips on how to research, organize thoughts, and what needs to be cited and what does not have to be cited.

Old Dude's Book

This was a very good deal. It was in better condition than the ones in the campus bookstore (mainly because there weren't any...they ran out. Apparently Comp I textbooks were in high demand. Is it sad that people have trouble reading and writing in college? That was a rhetorical question, which this book explains in detail.). I use this product regularly and I find no fault in it. Shipped very quickly (got it the next day).

Really good deal

I was really pleased with this book, especially since I bought it used but I was very happy that it was only gently used-- as described.
