THE ST. AMBROSE SCHOOL FOR GIRLS by Jessica Ward
I wasn’t that into this until the halfway mark. But by then it felt less like a thriller and more of a character study/coming of age YA drama with a murder-mystery side story.
Not to say this was terrible —It really wasn’t— it had its moments. I felt for Sarah; struggling with loneliness, her mental health, dealing with the “mean girl” clique at her new school, and the lack of real support from her mother… Being in her head was exhausting which I realize *is* the point.
That said, I wish there was more “action” throughout the story instead of it being jam packed into the last few chapters. I did appreciate the (predictable) ending as I love morally grey characters and support women’s wrongs.
Overall, this was good but not great.
